I designed and delivered a portraiture hand embroidery workshop delivered to art foundation students at Xaverian College and to accompany the ‘Stitch Speaks Louder Than Words’ exhibition at the Wonder Inn in 2016.
The workshop asked participants to stitch into mirror card to make embroidered portraits of what they saw reflected and distorted in the card. The purpose of the workshop was to not get hung up on the accuracy of their reflection and allow unusual marks and observations to shine through. The concept was inspired by the artwork ‘Reflection and Distortion’ also made by myself.
