As part of my role at Venture Arts, my brief was to design and lead workshops for children with learning disabilities from various school groups who were invited by Bee in the City to the People’s History Museum for a day of workshops and fun. The children were to work together to make a banner inspired by the Bee trail launched around Manchester in 2018. The result was a banner celebrating creativity in the city. The textile banner showed the ideas of each individual child who created their own bee to add to a canvas background. Ultimately, the project showed the uniqueness of each individual child but also each of their ideas coming together to make a hive of creativity.
